While these forces present challenges, they also create unprecedented opportunities to strengthen the competitiveness of Canadian steel and reinforce the value of the Canadian manufacturing supply chain. The key is to understand the when and the how!

This presentation explores how the Canadian Galvanizing Institute (CGI-IGC) has evolved into a national voice and catalyst for advancing durability, technical excellence, and industry collaboration. Through major Canadian initiatives, practical tools, technical resources, national initiatives, and strategic partnerships, CGI-IGC is helping engineers, owners, and specifiers recognize durability as a key competitive advantage of steel. By promoting Canadian resilient, low-maintenance, and sustainable design solutions, the Institute is strengthening the case for steel as the preferred material for Canada's infrastructure and building sectors while reinforcing the value of Canadian manufacturing and the domestic steel supply chain.

Attendees will gain insight into CGI-IGC's short and long-term initiatives and the collaborative solutions being developed to address challenges and the growing role of CGI-IGC in advancing the long-term performance of steel by extending service life, reducing maintenance, improving lifecycle economics, and supporting whole-life sustainability objectives.
